Keswick Vineyards was founded in 2000 on the grounds of the historic Edgewood Estate — a 400-acre Piedmont farm in the shadow of Southwest Mountain. Our first vintage, in 2002, was named Best White Wine in America. Every bottle since has been grown, pressed, and aged on this land.
Keswick Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery near Charlottesville, Virginia. It was founded in 2000 by the Schornberg family. The first vintage — 2002 — won Best White Wine in America at the Atlanta International Wine Summit.
Since then, Keswick has earned two Virginia Governor's Cups and numerous Gold, Double Gold, and Platinum medals across the country. Every bottle is grown, pressed, and aged on the estate.
The winery is run by Cindy Schornberg and her son Brian, with a small team on the ground. The tasting room is family-friendly — an elevated food menu from the in-house Barrel & Board kitchen, a miniature golf course, a dog park, and live music on Saturdays.
We believe the most interesting Virginia wines are already in the soil — they just need someone not to get in their way.
The fruit is picked late enough to ripen but early enough to retain acidity. Ferments are native where possible, in small lots by block. Oak is French, never new. Wines rest on lees, in barrel, in bottle — until they're ready to say what they came to say.
It's a philosophy that asks for patience and gives back complexity. Twenty-five years in, we're more convinced than ever.
Plan a visit. Walk the vines. Sit with a glass at the table they were grown for.
